General information about plants:
Zinnias are annual plants, shrubs, and subshrubs native primarily to North America, with some species in South America. Most species have upright stems, but some have a loose habit with spreading stems that mound above the soil surface. They typically range in height from 10 to 100 cm tall (4" to 40"). The leaves are opposite and generally stemless (sessile), with a shape that ranges from linear to ovate, and a color that ranges from pale green to medium green. The flowers have a variety of appearances, from a single row of petals to a dome shape. Zinnias can be white, chartreuse, yellow, orange, red, purple or lilac.
